Maintenance/Housekeeping/Cooking:

Lucky Dog will be clean with fresh linens and towels when you arrive. Our reliable Caymanian property manager takes care of the housekeeping before you arrive and after you leave, keys, rental fees, and will provide items you may need. If you require mid-visit cleaning, you may hire her for the reasonable fee of $20. If you schedule her in advance, she will also grocery shop for you (for a small additional charge). We like that...arriving with fresh food already in the fridge.

We can also recommend a local cook, if you are interested.

Snorkeling and Diving:
The waters directly off shore are designated “protected” by the Caymanian government. Thus, the snokeling right off our 450’ beach is fantastic.

And the dive sites nearby are known as some of the best coral reef sites in the western hemisphere.

Grand Cayman’s waters are continually warm and well-known for clarity. The shore is protected by a coral reef and stays reasonably calm with little undertow. Conditions are ideal for water enthusiasts. There are an estimated 60 miles of drop-offs on all sides of the island. With over 100 recognized dive sites; some very close to the shoreline, anyone can enjoy the beautiful underwater world easily. Right in front of the Sea Lodge, water depths are approximately 4, then 8, then 12 or more feet out to the coral reef (visible in the pictures).

Red Sail Sports:
1/2 mile down the road, the Retreat beach at Rum Point offers an excellent dive shop and several excursions daily. Discounts usually available.

Time Zone:
You’re always on Eastern Standard Time here, just like in the eastern United States. However the Cayman Islands do not observe Daylight Savings Time.

Car Rental, Driving, Legal Age
Remember that they drive on the left in Cayman! Seat belts must be worn by the driver and all passengers. Visitors may buy a temporary Cayman driving license for each driver upon making rental arrangements.

There are a wide range of cars available, and they may feature combinations of left/right hand drive and automatic or shift stick. If you have a preference check with the rental agency in advance and make it clear what you want.

On request, we can arrange for you to be picked up at the airport and taken directly to the lodge, where your rental car will be waiting for you.

Buying Food:
Our property manager will grocery shop for you for a small fee. Please notify us in advance of your arrival. This is a wonderful, much-appreciated service for those travelers arriving too late to shop, or arriving on Sundays when everything is closed.

Foster’s Food Fair (345 949-5155) is large and quite close to the airport.

Big Daddy Liquors is right there by Fosters.

Chisolm’s Market (345 947-9418) Approximately five minutes from the Sea Lodge is this small local convenience store.

Hurley’s Supermarket (345 947-8488) just outside of George Town and is on your way from the airport to the Lodge.
